Economics, All Also, getting into a PhD program, no matter how high-ranking, is just the first step of your academic life, the admission process is not as fair as it should be, so don't look down on other people just because you're admitted to a great school, cause it doesn't mean you're great as well. It's extremely possible that people you despise today are going to outlast you in the near future. Plus, everyone knows that department ranking is just a number, what's important is access to research resources suitable for your research interest, responsible and resourceful advisors, etc. If you think getting into the top 5 gives you the privilege to taunt other people, you are just way too shallow and shortsighted to have any success in any possible way.

Physics, University Of California, Irvine Same old same old "status has been updated" rejection. I had a decent portfolio in terms of grades, research, honors/recognitions, and extracurriculars. Its hard to say but I think coming from a smaller school without a lot of direct lab access made it hard to make the cut :(

Speech Language Pathology, St. Johns University Logged into the portal and saw the acceptance letter! So excited! I can't find any financial aid package info though, does anyone else know how to access that? Still waiting to hear back from other schools but if the financial aid looks good then I'll probably go here

Computer Science, Cornell University Really thought I was a good fit. Being from Latin America is such a big hurdle. People with access to the research world during their undergrad don't know how good they have it.

Computer Science, University Of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) Expected. Unsure what more a Master's applicant with little access to the research world can do. Being in a third world country where no research is done really puts me at a huge disadvantage.

Computer Science, University Of Massachusetts, Amherst Clicked on the "Check Status of Application Materials" tab. Got the following message: You are not authorized to access this component. (40,20) You have not been granted security authorization for the component you are attempting to access. You may have access to the designated component and page, but not in the specified action mode (such as Correction or Update/Display). Contact your system administrator. Anyone else faced this before? Also, would be very helpful if the ones who got admits could tell if you applied for MS/PhD or vanilla MS. Thanks a lot :)

Speech Language Pathology, University Of Houston (NOT AN INTERVIEW) To the person below who wrote about the University of Houston. Can you please let me know how you got access to the portal? I applied to Houston, but I only have access to the Applyweb.com page. I haven't received any information after submitting my application. Thanks!

Speech Language Pathology (Online), James Madison University I was noticed via email that a decision was posted to the portal and was able to access the acceptance letter there. My cumulative GPA was 3.75 and my major GPA (CSD) was 3.85. The program actually starts summer 2021, not spring but there was no summer option

Physics, USA University Virtually all programs dropped the GRE and PGRE requirements for this year. This is a good indication that those were barriers to access for many students. Some schools have less funding due to the crash in the economy that happened with COVID. That's not universal to every school, but certainly doesn't help. Also, in general, I think schools are being more cautious with their budgets since they aren't sure how the economy (and state funding) is going to recover.
