Email to check portal. No reason stated.3rd reject. no admits

A very late result. Waitlisted for funding.

Email to check APRA; generic rejection letter. Email stated "...we know this is a disappointment..." You better believe it is a disappointment. Contacted program coordinator who was very helpful in going over my application's shortcomings. They KNEW I was rejected months ago.

Accepted off the wait list

To the posters below, Maryland really sends impersonal letters and deals with their applicants as ... I did an MA in my home country and another MA in Applied Linguistics in the UK. I applied to this school two years ago and got rejected. When I contacted the director and asked about what made my application insufficient, they told me that I had no sufficient background in theoretical linguistics. I did another MA in theoretical linguistics here in the US and then applied to Maryland again. I received an email from them in which I was asked to JUSTIFY why I did three MAs. A few weeks later, I got rejected!!

I was waitlisted, and when I sent them an email saying that I had committed to another university I got an impersonal rejection letter. It's a little insulting, to say the least, considering I actually attended their prospective student weekend, thus missing the weekend for the university I ultimately committed to (still went for a campus visit later, so nothing lost really). In any case, I'm satisfied with my decision, but nevertheless as frustrated by this experience as others posting here.

Received an email to check the website. They didn't even bother to write a more personal email. shit place.

disappointed, but still positive for other universities

Originally waitlisted on 3/13/14. Received a followup e-mail last night explaining that all seats have been filled and they will not be able to offer me admission this year. I'm disappointed, but have already accepted another great offer.

Not really a loss for me. Just really irritated that it took this long for any notification.

To the poster below, I got an email that they are taking 1-2 more people, asking if I'm interested in a spot because I was first on the waitlist. Stipend is 26k, 27k after passing quals, although she said it could increase in the next few years. There is also free healthcare and tuition remission. I have turned down their offer. Best of luck!!

To the poster below, who just got acceptance, how did you find out? Did they email you or you just checked on my UMBC. Please respond and did you hear anything on funding as well.
