Computer Science Graduate School Admission Results

Is there anyone who still hasn't received any results foe MSCS? The wait is killing me.

Ignore Waitlist: I guess it's time to move on now. Almost mid-may in a week, and now people with good pointers are also being rejected. Better start worrying about visa slots and other necessary stuff and don't waste the current admit. Again, I have heard being a cashcow, they even give admits in June and July, but the current visa scenario is not worth the wait. Accepted in equally good university. All the best to everyone!

Stays changed to waitlisted ( got a mail from University) expected results on 1st July. (also mentioned in the same mail) :'(

(TTPB) GRE:333 (164V, 169Q), 9.14/10 cgpa (converts to a 3.92 approx on a 4 point scale) Some research experience, one paper not published, one published book chapter for Springer. 1 computer vision based internship at a startup. Extensive experience in computer vision projects. No work ex. Limited amount of teaching experience as well. Additional, if you haven't gotten an update, check the applyweb portal, it might have an update.

TTPB: I don't want to name any college names here but trust me when I say most of the 7 cgpa folks are not from top tier colleges. I can go on for hours debating this but really we are not talking about comparing apples to apples here. Cashcow? True. Fair admissions process? Nah. USC doesn't really care about tier from my observations on all forums (Indian and Chinese included). Someday we may see in the news how those folks got in and it won't be good news. TTPB about DOB: That sucks, I had a similar situation which delayed my review and it took them 4 months to even look at my profile to find that out.

This is for everyone waiting for their admits. I received a response from the school saying my USC ID has not been created as the DoB mentioned on my application was wrong. This after 4 months. I updated my DoB and now waiting for USC ID so that I can at least see my status. Will provide updates when I receive them.

TTPB: Those 7cgpa students are from tier 1 and tier 2 colleges and with exceptional profiles, for the rest colleges, USC is highly gpa centric. But USC being cashcow won't spare a single seat and roll out admits even in June and July every year. So hardcore USC fans and 9+ pointers can keep waiting if they can manage the visa interviews with just emergency slots open. Also, almost all the consulates have cancelled visa slots till may end. and during this pandemic, consulates won't open in full capacity.

TTPB: Then how can we justify 10-15 people getting accepted with 7.4s and 7.2s and one on Yocket with 67%! Wow. For such a gpa centric school, I am surprised by some of these admits and rejects.

I'm extremely sorry for using the word Insider Information and causing the confusion. I just made that statement based on the admission results reported by others so far. First they rejected everyone below 8, then 8.5 and then almost everyone below 9 last week. All these rejects were during weekend. I think we just have to accept the fact that competition is high this year and move on with other admits.

[Ignore WL) So I applied to the MS CS program before the first priority deadline in early January. Today it has been nearly 5 MONTHS and still no updates whatsoever from Columbia. I emailed admissions but just got an email saying they were unable to respond to individual inquiries regarding application status... Honestly for a prestigious school like Columbia, this is completely unacceptable and disrespectful toward applicants

I expected it but am still disappointed as I thought that I had a decent chance of being admitted. Best of luck to those who got in. PS: Apply by the early deadline (November) if you are really interested in attending this program.

Insider Information: All students whose GPA is less than 9.3 especially those from Tier2/Tier3 colleges will receive a rejection mail either this weekend or next weekend.
