Received late acceptance for an early application. First generation.

This was my top choice, I'm completely devastated. Really thought my profile was good enough but I was wrong. CS competition is insane at this point it seems. I guess I'll be headed to USC now...

Lol true. I was kinda obsessed with USC (ps: Fall 2019 , 9.12 cgpa). Waited till May end for the same and got a reject in June :). I almost ended up screwing my other admit and had to end up paying hefty rent for the whole first year due to the delay. But now I don't have any regrets of not being a Trojan. I graduated from a equally good university and I'll be joining Amazon as SDE and even my friends from USC will be joining the same with similar salary. I was told to post my views about USC admission process by one of friends who would be going for masters this fall. Focus on your skills and you would do great don't worry!

All of my friends living in India have been rejected. Don't know if this is related to the present COVID and embassies conditions in India or application have been clearly rejected on academic standards. I can see all have been rejected on gradcafe.

Finally peace 😅 I do have an admit from a similar ranked program to Columbia, but I have always wondered what Columbia's decision would be. I am grateful for the reject.

Ignore WL. Have mass rejects been sent out yet? I don't have any other admits yet, is there a chance I can get an admit for the spring session?

I've got rejected six months after the interview. Normally, they will not inform via email.

Has anyone heard official acceptance from Grad Center? I had unofficial acceptance via email from the professor who interviewed me in February. Been waiting since then for official acceptance and haven't heard anything.

TTPB: Totally agree with you! I myself received a decision in June and that too Spring admit. Take my advice, don't waste any other admits you have. Be prepared with everything and incase you receive an admit late in June or so, take time and decide whether your visa process and all the other stuffs (finding roommates, fights, etc.) will be handled properly or not. I rejected my Spring admit and so did my friend who received fall admit because of the tight schedule. As far as I remember USC takes around 20 days to send you i20. Focus on your skills and you will do great in whichever university you select! Best of luck guys!

TTPB: This is the case every year with USC, last year I received admit in mid June and rejected it straight away. Some of my friends received admits for spring and some received admits/ rejects in July as well. You may blame it on deferrals but trust me this is the case every year, though I agree many seats may have been blocked by the deferrals. A suggestion, as I have been through this in the past and have heard this from my seniors too - MOVE ON!!! Don't let this ruin your other admits, start finding apartments as they increase the rents as the dates start approaching, worry about the visa slots, book your flights. And as a MSCS students, start coding and learn new techstacks as USC won't give you jobs if you aren't capable. And you don't need USC if you are capable enough
