Physics Graduate School Admission Results

I received a reply from the admission committee that I'm on the waiting list. If anyone who's accepted doesn't plan on attending, kindly please decline. They're waiting to hear from the first group of accepted people before they make more offers.

For people who are waiting: I recieved the likely letter in February, contacted the department today and was told that the last offers were made on monday. Despite your strong background, we are sorry to inform you that you are not accepted.

3.7ish GPA, a little less than a year of relevant research, and a bunch of extracurriculars. I'm excited!

Ignore waitlist. If you have an offer from UF and have somewhere better to go please reject their offer asap.

To those who are under active consideration and who are not, you guy will all receive rejection within a few days. I just emailed a professor who in charge of the admission and was informed that the final round of offers were made by Monday, meaning that if you haven't received any response, you will be 100% rejected. It's actually hilarious that this process took such a long time. Also, I was on the active consideration list and was told that a significant amount of offers would be made in Late March. But it seemed that very few were given, it turned out umd was kinda pranking on us ！

TTPB: As someone who did not receive any news from the UMD, I am wondering the same thing. You at least have a (slim) chance and was informed of that. I don't understand why they couldn't reject me and others like me until now.

What is going on at UMD? I received a likely letter long ago, and now I'm not so sure that it was a "likely" letter in the first place. I am utterly puzzled.

Email to check website. Expected at this point. POI said there were very few seats available.

Ignore waitlist. I have asked for an update of my application, and their answer was that they are still reviewing applications. So we need to wait a little bit more.

"While your application was impressive, we regret to inform you that at this time, you have not been recommended for admission for our Fall 2021 graduate program. We encourage you to reapply for Fall 2022 starting in October 2021." Wow, rejected me and want me to pay for the application fee next year. Nice Utah.

TTBP: I also applied for hep-th and never heard anything, and nothing has shown up on ApplyWeb. I emailed them about a week ago asking for an update so I can respond to other offers, and they never responded :/

Does anyone hear back from the Rice waitlist? Do appreciate if you guys can decline the offer if you get a better one. Rice is my last hope (rejected by all the ohters).
