Sociology Graduate School Admission Results

Has anyone heard anything from Yale Sociology? Any word on when decisions might be due?

To the poster previous: nope, haven't heard of any updates. On their webpage it says that they are going to send offers in April (seems pretty late compared to last year)

Has anyone heard from MSU? Accepted, rejected, or other?

Received an acceptance letter and information about the funding package. 5 years funding guaranteed.

I'm the one who posted about USC and unless the prof and advisor are playing an elaborate joke, I don't think it is! To the other poster, please don't worry. No one mailed anything about all decisions having been made or sent out, and one may assume they're still rolling out like these do...

To the poster below re: University of Toronto, I was accepted into the MA program, and my deadline to respond is March 15. I assume PhD would be the same.

Stanford offer is real, I also got one, same financial package

Can anyone else confirm if the Stanford soc admits are real? A stipend of 47,000 looks really suspicious to me--only b-schools have that high.

TTPB: Thank you! The email was from the chair of the admissions committee. Standard funding package was offered which is $47,000 for the first full year without teaching responsibilities, including a summer RA-ship. All quarters of year 2-5 and three quarters of year 6 (without summer) also guaranteed.

Graduate Committee at Stony Brook is meeting next week, decisions to follow shortly thereafter. So I'm guessing we will be hearing the week of 2/15...

I received an email from a prof who I have had email interactions with, prior to admission, and who I believe is my best fit. Also, received an email from grad advisor who said the official email with funding is coming on Monday

So excited! I submitted GRE scores but I'm pretty sure we got an email that said they weren't looking at any GRE scores.

1r / 6p (two aren't sociology) This is my first round, completing MS in related field. Reading over forums on this post, it seems like many people who are rejected are highly capable people who are passionate about doing research. What if we all got together and collected our own papers, with no profit motive? It would be difficult, but why not continue to pursue research on the side? Why does this feel like “academia or bust.” We don't need to dance for these schools ✊
