to the person who just posted below: may I ask when you received this email?

I got an update from them, it's “ Thank you for your interest in USC Sociology. We are still processing applications and anticipate sending out notices within the next week.” had no idea what this means? Could be no results had been sent out or they are preparing for rejection letters?

Has anyone heard when we should expect to hear back from them?

To the poster below, I emailed them about a week for a status update, but they never replied.

I was one of those accepted to Chicago, I did interview about two weeks ago. Only once though; I know in the past Chicago has done two interviews but it appears they only did one this year.

Has anyone received news from USC? I only saw one acceptance.

Was unsure about my fit within this department. Said they had over 130 apps and very few available positions.

Notified via app portal. Didn't feel like I was competitive with my GRE Quant and the department didn't feel like a strong fit with my research interests. Congrats to everyone who was accepted and best of luck to everyone else!

Long listed for an interview, notified of rejection via email the following week

Email from Sociology chair! Official email from Dean of Students will follow in the coming weeks.

Nothing from MPC but an email from the DGS suggesting my application was strong and being reviewed by MPC. Then came the rejection. If you have received something from MPC then it means you made it to the final pool. Your chances are high. Good luck.
