Went to UCLA as an undergrad, got highest honors and magna cum laude, but still rejected. Hurts considering I was told I have a really good chance. Didn't get an email, just randomly checked the website. Oh well, that's life. 0a/2r/8pending

*IGNORE INTERVIEW* Has anyone still not heard anything from Maryland? I have had no contact from them or any update on the portal. I am amusing it's a rejection for me, but it would be nice to have confirmation instead of radio silence.

*Not really an interview* Emailed the grad director and he said that I've been long wait listed, so if enough people decline their places and some waitlisters do too, they may give me a place to fill up the numbers. I've been told to hang tight and await further news. Does anyone know how often long waitlisters eventually get accepted into programmes (and specifically UNC)? Does it happen often or is it pretty rare?

Had multiple very positive calls with professors, 2 of whom said outright that they would love to be one of my advisors if admitted. My area of research felt like a perfect fit for the program, I've been published, defended an honors thesis, have teaching experience, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from an Ivy League for undergrad. Feeling really sad—Yale was my dream school.
