Still waiting.. lol

5yrs worked as a software engineer, 2yrs data engineer, 4+ yrs AI startup founder (backed by VCs), current CTO at AI/Blockchain startup, BS in CS from outside, MS in SE from California (GPA 3.7), one journal author, recommendations from a current data scientist at Amazon, Google. SOP focused on data visualization. I already got admission from my top choice and taking the summer courses. Nonetheless, USC was too long to give me the rejection.

I applied in the month of January in the first week, it took almost 6 months for the decision to come. But I am happy at the same moment too. I believe in my University more, and I hope they will take better care of me than what USC did so far.

Is there any waitlisted admitted student planning to take the semester online this fall. I am stuck in the decision making.

What Rubbish! It took them this long to reject!! Used to think it's a good university but after this have lost all respect. On the other hand there are universities which are replying to my queries daily about the changing situation there. Good for me !

I messaged VASE and they responded that my decision has been made and if we don't see the result in YouSc portal my tomorrow night we gotta submit a request and follow up with admission department by filling a form using a link. Any EEs still waiting ?

Did the posters who received reply from the office that their decisions will be available in 48-72 hours receive their results on the portal? Super weird. If it is a rejection, why wait 48-72 hours to update?

To the other students still waiting for a decision from USC. Guys there's no hope. Even if you get admit it would be just Fall 2020. I just received another email from the University telling me waitlisted students cannot update term. This makes me question to them on humanitarian grounds. I would ask for justice and clarification of such kind of mistreatment. Once I will be through with them with civil talks. I am gonna ruin them publicly and would expose their immoral schemes. To all those waitlisted students who got admit. What are you guys doing? Have you given up? Are you taking online classes? What have you decided.

TTPB: I will drop an email to them, because I can't wait till November for new admit letter, only to learn that I didn't have this option at the first place. This would be fun to watch, because they have themselves emailed me the reply from the official email, attaching the link of updating. If this would be a mistake from their end, it would sucks to be me. I will definitely let you guys know how this unfolds. Seems like getting an admit is not just the end of misery from this University.

TTPB - The email I got on 2nd July mentioned the 2 options I listed below, but the website mentions 4 options (the fuckers didn't even mention on the website that these 4 options don't apply to everyone). I emailed viterbi.gradadmission@usc.edu and gradadm@usc.edu. This is the reply I got from the former today = "Thank you for your email. Because you were waitlisted, the five options to update does not apply to you. If you wish to be considered for the Spring 2021 or Fall 2021 term, you will need to reapply.".....If some waitlisted-->admit students are allowed an option to defer while some aren't, idk what to say, but this college is seriously, seriously fucked up and keeps money as its first priority, fucking playing with the careers of prospective students.

TTPB: Lol what the hell is wrong with them. Did you emailed them on viterbi.gradadmission@usc.edu for asking about the updation of term. Please confirm because if it might be the case I don't know what to presume. I definitely got the email reply telling me I can update. Can you please confirm, if this might be the case I need to confirm again. This would be a big blunder. I wonder how are they going to say me no when they already told me I can.

To the "Applied Data Science" poster below -- they gave you an option to defer to the next Fall?? Wtf, I got into CS (DS) on July 2nd after being waitlisted, and the only options I have are in-person or online Fall 20. I even confirmed this by dropping them a mail and they replied that yeah I have just 2 options.

It doesn't make any sense. It is 7th of july if they wanna send out rejections what r they waiting for ? If they r waiting for other students to submit their intent to enroll forms even then it will take time for them to allot it to a diff person this sucks n on top of all this if they do not give the option to defer there is no point in doing all this process n this wait . Given the situation right now n the news regarding the visas i dont think they will be a high percentage of students who would opt for online classes especially international students . At this point evrything is uncertain.

TTPB: I got admitted for Fall 2020 after being waitlisted. There was a confusion whether they allow it or not. I drop the mail on official viterbi graduate email address. I received the reply that I can update my term within one year of my application and was given the term update form. My eligibility admission notification letter also doesn't mention any sort of thing that I cannot update my term. Given the current circumstances I don't think they will hold any student in such a tight spot, it just not make any sense. Still I am on my heels, I don't know when and where things will get messed up and backfire.
