Graduate School Admission Results

Interviewed on 2/24. Told decisions would come out mid to late March.

TTPB: Same here!!! but I guess at this point, it is a waitlist at best. We will see in the upcoming few days!!!

Not WL. TTPB: My status changed from "under program review" to "application submitted" on Monday. However, it changed from "application submitted" back to "under program review" again today. I am neither admitted nor rejected yet.

TTPB (Maryland): Thanks!! At an interview last month, the faculty interviewer explained that I would be invited as part of a group of ~12 prospective students to an open house/open classrooms, which took place last week, and that normally they would make initial offers to 12 people, but just 6 at first this year due to financial risk. The email I got today implied the top 6 were notified today too.

Told previously that I was in the top 12ish, but that due to COVID budget constraints they're only making initial offers to the top 6 this year then extending more on a rolling basis. Today I was informed I'm on the waitlist with the rest of us who weren't in the top 6.

For context, Maryland usually makes 12 offers and hopes for a yield of 6, but this year they are only accepting 6 and waitlisting the rest of the top 12ish, hoping they can extend more offers on a rolling basis. Today I think the top 12ish all found out their status either way, and I was waitlisted. I invested a lot in this application and thought things were going really well so I'm pretty disappointed, but still holding out hope that some people turn down their offers.

MOCB Concentration

Received an email to check my portal and received an acceptance. I did not submit GRE scores and applied straight out of undergrad (majored in international relations and French studies) with no relevant work experience. I think the strengths in my applications were my LORs, my experience living abroad in a low-income country and my fluency in three languages.
