We have received your application and supporting documents for admission to the Graduate School. After careful consideration, the faculty of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program to which you applied have not recommended your admission. Their decision was based on the requirements of their particular program, which may include, the qualifications and performance of students currently studying in the program, and/or the number of new students that the program can accommodate and support. I support their decision and therefore cannot offer you admission.

Did not receive an email. Had to access the portal to see the rejection.

This was my #1 choice, I am ecstatic!!

Accepted with a GRA.

It came as a surprise. I had conversations with professors from Columbia, who were actively promoting their program to me, persuading me to apply there instead of to any other related programs. Having obtained my master's degree from a top-ranked university, my advisor was confident that all I needed to do was apply to this program, as they would surely accept me, and I wouldn't need to consider any other options. Thankfully, I didn't take his advice.

Received notice earlier in the month that I was unlikely to be admitted. No interview.

I consider myself a highly qualified candidate, having earned my previous degree from a top-ranked institution and exceeded all expectations. It's disappointing to learn that I was not offered admission and have been placed on the waitlist. While their email was warm and conveyed high regard for my application, it doesn't mitigate the letdown of not being their first choice for admission.
