To the other waitlisted posters. Does anyone know how they run the wait list? Is it program wide or are we waiting to see if the first choice students for our chosen faculty decline? Ranked or unranked?

Rejected after 2 interviews with POI (first was 1 on 1; the other was with another prof + student)

Had an interview in late Jan. The Professor's research aligned with mine very well. Hope still has the chance of getting in.

TTPB any idea on how the waitlist at UW works? Should I look at this as a reject or entertain hopes for another long wait till April?

Kind of bummed. Had gotten an interview. It's just a really tough season this year. Congrats to everyone who got in.

TTPB asking how competitive are HCI/related fields: I have a best paper award at CSCW2020, and I was rejected without an interview. So yeah, it's pretty brutal I guess. Maybe the pandemic had something to do with it.

What happened with UW? Seems like so many good people got rejected. Are they that low on spots/funding?

TTPB: The one that has 5 papers and 2 posters and area is HCI. You have many publications. Great achievement! You will have good news soon. How many first-author papers + top-tier conference do you have among 5 papers? I want to know how competitive HCI PhD admission is (Is it hard like the ML field, now?)

TTPB: the acceptance comes from the graduate program, and the portal has already changed. They say the graduate school is processing the official offer for 1-2 business days.

UG(CS) CGPA: 8.08/10 MBA(Business Analytics) CGPA: 8.47/10 7 months internship, 4 months research overseas in GANs and ML, 1 research paper in IEEE, 1 under review (in an international journal)

Area: NLP, 2 years relevant industry experience, 1 year RA, 3 first-author publications. Great recommendation letters. Things are very tough for international applicants from unknown universities.
