Graduate School Admission Results

BS in ME from Korea's top engineering school, 2.5 years work experience in field robotics, 2 publications (1 AAAI, 1 IEEE Transactions on ITS), 1 Strong LoR, 2 good LoR, tailored SoP

Kind of expected, since there is no interview.

Had three interviews, all not went very well. I hate all the schools that interview much more than they could accept!!!

Had an interview, thought it went well– guess not!

Had a one hour interview with POI who seemed super interested in my research. We had a great discussion, surprised with the result. Interviews feel like a waste of time. some are 1 hour some are 15 min, what are they judging in 15 min?

No interview, but thought POI aligned with research well. Oh well

3.71 GPA @ Arizona State University, 2 NASA internships, a few other research internships, but no publications yet. Strong LORs, thought I wrote a decent SOP catered to the school. This is just how it goes.

Interviewed in late January. Track is systems/networks.

2 first-author pubs at top conferences, strong LOR. Congrats to those admits.

Standard rejection email. 1/2 so far. Theory/algorithms applicant, math undergrad.

No interview and didn't think I'd be great match for the professors in the SOP, so pretty expected. 3 published papers and 2 under review. Though also a bit sad, sigh.

NLP. 2-3 pubs/1 internship. Did not have a strong faculty fit.

Standard reject e-mail. The dream lives on~

Area: NLP. Two published papers, one under review. Didn't think I had great research fit with the advisors I mentioned in my SOP, so not all that surprised.
