Graduate School Admission Results

TTPB: As I mentioned in the previous message, The admission process is apparently the same as last year. THey will consider MS/PhD applications for on-campus MS if qualified. Eileen directly replied today and mentioned that to me. The partial information given by them on the website caused a serious misunderstanding. Stay positive buddy, we still have a fair chance. ATB :)

I had mailed Eileen to ask about the changes to MS/PhD program. It seems like they still consider some qualified students to the MS program. The online and hybrid programs are just additional options. I sent a very polite mail but I hope it doesn't affect my admission decision lol. We may have overreacted out of the stress we have due to the admissions or were just alarmed due to the lack of info provided by them. Anyway, ATB to all :)

"Update Pending" on SPIRE portal. Most likely it is going to be another reject. I had applied to 6 colleges in the US this year. All of them are rejects. Competition is insane for PhD CSE. Highly disappointed. Good Luck to the other applicants though.

Extremely bad experience. Only apply if you have a strong interest in their program. The worst portal I have seen.

Notified on SPIRE. Horrible process from start to end. Future students, don't bother. Plenty of other schools that care about applicants

Their portal is certainly the worst amongst all the places that I have applied to. They send a mail stating that there is an "update pending" on the portal, and then we have to wait for 1-2 days before getting the results. Just send a mail when you actually have the results on the portal so that we can check it out and move ahead with our lives. Or send the results in the mail itself. Anything is better than their current convoluted process.

To the future aspirants - DO NOT APPLY TO UMASS Amherst, there are lot of other colleges which are happy to admit you.

I applied for MS/Ph.D. program. The application is still under review. I gave them GRE scores. They didn't consider the application for MS. They didn't conduct any interviews. Now they are telling us that they will be offering us online MS. Why would we enroll for online MS from UMass? UMass is so irresponsible. I would never suggest anyone apply to UMass. Try for other safe schools. P.S. I got my offer for MS CS at Columbia University but some of my friends are desperately waiting for decision from UMass. I know how it feels like to login to spire 3-4 three times every day. Total nonsense.

Yep, we did send GRE score specifically for that. Please don't let this slide guys even if you have a better admit. For some of us, including me, the UMass graduate program was a dream admit. Thanks.

TTPB who mentioned GRE scores regarding MS/PhD admission, Umass has mentioned clearly on their website, that MS/Phd applicants need to have GRE scores, if they want to be considered for MS program.

Does anyone know what the "hybrid MS program" means?

**Updated on March 31, 2021** While we are working remotely we will have completed our phd admissions by April 2. A number of ms/phd applicants will be offered admission to our new online ms or to our new hybrid ms program. OUR Fall admissions decisions for the MS ON-campus PROGRAM are complete. Students who are accepted to one of our programs must confirm acceptance by April 15. Due to the large volume of applications to both programs we request that all applicants refrain from calling or emailing about the status of their application.

Well, that's upsetting. Why do you say so, buddy? Did you mail them and get a negative reply?

**Ignore Wiatlist** TTPB, I am also in the same boat. I believe that this is going to be a reject now. The rejection will be most likely sent in the next 2 weeks.

Any on got results for MS/PhD? Mine is still under review.
