Systems Engineering, University Of Virginia My Bsc is in Transportation Engg track with a social studies MS later. Good programming background. Wanted to work at the LINK lab transportation related projects. Unfortunately, first rejection of the season. Kinda expected though.

Asian Studies, Georgetown University School Of Foreign Service (SFS) My undergrad grades were terrible, but my four years working at foreign policy think tank in the region and Indonesian language skills strengthened my application. I'd also made professional connections through my work who had ties to the program and wrote great letters of recommendation. I didn't take the GRE.

Master Of Information Management And Systems, University Of California, Berkeley I didn't submit the GRE or English test, and my 30-minute interview was completed on January 25th. I haven't received an admission phone call because I was outside the United States. 5 years of work experience as a design researcher in tech.

Security Studies Program, Georgetown University I truly did not think I'd even get in because of my GPA, but I applied anyway. I have 7 years of work experience, including 3 years on Capitol Hill (1.5 years at a Military Legislative Assistant). I had a strong story for my interest in technology and national security, having worked in tech in the private sector. I think my work experience and recommendation letters most likely tipped me over. If you're worried about your GPA, apply anyway and see what happens! All the advice I got about the Committee placing high value on work experience turned out to be correct. I did not take the GRE, and instead wrote an analytical essay on lethal autonomous weapons systems.

Information Science, University Of Washington Waitlisted from the program - if anyone wants to decline their offer, please do so! I really want to work with Jinha Lee and Chris Coward on the escape room project...had great info interviews and conversations with both! BA in sociology from UC Berkeley (3.9 GPA), MLIS from UW (3.95 GPA). Work experience in higher education. 2 pubs (1 in undergrad journal), numerous presentations & library instruction experience. Didn't take the GRE but they said it doesn't really matter.

Public Affairs And Policy, Portland State University Reversal of earlier rejection decision after extended discussion and re-negotiation with program administration. Re-submitted application materials to be more compliant with program standards. Should I attend this program, expressed intent to work with two well-known Political Science (International Relations/National Security area of focus) faculty who teach and supervise projects within this program.
