TTPB: Still waiting for PSU. I know a handful of people who are too. Should we still be hopeful or should we just move on.

Accepted to 12-course program with 50% scholarship

Got email to check portal. Accepted 9-course with 25% tuition

Another week went by and still no news from the program. It has been nearly 5 months already...

[NOT Wait-listed!] Is there anyone still waiting to hear back from the Ph.D. program (NLP Track)? Do you have any idea, when we might get the final results from GaTech for Ph.D.?

The status was changed to "additional review required" on 13 April. On 19 April, it was changed to Deny on the website. The next day, I received an email that notified me of a status change. As far as I know, this year they accepted a very limited number of applicants for PH.D. program.

Got an email to check for status update. This was my top choice - devastated. Congrats to all those who got in.

To the Carleton reject iit guy below. You were frustrated and ranted out your frustration by demonizing the university by saying that it accepts students from only tier-4 and tier-5 universities. I think it was right that you were put in your place. Moreover, the issue is not writing that you are from iit, the fact that it carries little weight makes writing is irrelevant. And when you spoke about studying day and night for 2 years to get into iit, other students have also put in equal if not more hard work than you and have gotten accept from these universities. So when you say that a particular university (that you got rejected from) only accepts students from Tier-4 and Tier-5 universities, it trashes their efforts. AFAIK, you are probably getting wrong advice regarding the importance of extracurriculars for admission to universities, so you might want to re-evaluate that as well. And work on improving your profile, what you did wrong etc. because there are thousands of students with a similar profiles as yours and thousands with even better profiles. Improve your profile, and don't expect that the admissions will be handed out to you on a platter. And yes, I got accept from CMU MCDS, Columbia, UMass, and NYU (7 rejects, 2 pending) and I am from one of the top private universities in India and many of my friends got in as well so you would be surprised when you compare their profile with yours and that they are leagues ahead in terms of gpa, recommendations, internship and research experience, as well as their publications.

Seems like they just outright gave a reject, the status was "Preliminary Review Required" till yesterday

TTPB: Just received a mail that they are still considering applications. Results will be out by mid May.

Ignore the waitlist. Has anyone received any decision from UMN twin cities for MS CS in fall 2021? it's almost May, and still awaiting a decision.

TTPB: USC accepted to applied data science. Could you please share your profile

still no update from USC submitted for general in Jan. No update yet means reject? Was very bad admission season :(

TTPB: I was also rejected from Cornell Meng Ithaca but accepted to Cornell Tech Meng. Tbh, getting rejected from the main campus ruined Cornell Tech for me as well. If I were to accept Cornell Tech, I'd just feel like a Cornell main campus reject. So yeah, I'm personally not choosing Cornell Tech from my acceptances (although regardless of the main campus decision I wouldn't have chosen Cornell/Cornell Tech since I've got better admits).

Got a notification over email saying "Decisions are issued for the fall term anytime between January and June." Site (linked in another comment) says they are trying to get acceptances out by April. Already got accepted to applied data science, but am waiting on CS (general).

The iit guy. I am sorry guys. I didn't mean to offend anyone. But some guys do have a problem with money while applying to universities so they carefully vet them. I considered it safe after consulting with many people. So I was a bit frustrated. Also, universities in every country are ranked. Even in Canada. Don't they? Computer Skills? Dude, I did work hard on skills. Under 100 rank in gate in both maths and CS. Cleared coding round of every company in placement including google and Microsoft. My department followed an absolute marking system. They didn't grade on a curve. Also, why can't I write iit when I mention my profile? Should I be ashamed that I studied day and night for two years to get into it? Extracurricular I mentioned only because a lot of people have said including a couple of professors who interviewed me that extracurricular awards strengthen the profile. I didn't mention the plethora of ML projects done in colg since every applicant have them I guess. So guys mind your language and try to help each other rather than take your frustration out on anyone. Have a good day. I hope the guy who called me a loser gets into his dream college. Good luck :-) So it was absolutely not a rant. It was just frustration on my part and my contribution to this forum that this year it's tough.
