Physics Graduate School Admission Results

Ignore waitlist. Has anyone received offer from Columbia? I haven't seen many posts here. It would be weird if they haven't started sending offers in mid March. Thanks!

I received an email to check the status, but there is no update on the portal. Anyone else facing the same issue?

Unexpected :(

Ignore waitlisted. There will be ADDITIONAL offer coming at the end of March. Graduate Program has been sending email regarding encouraging "nonbinding status report" (not official declaration, but letting the school know applicant's interest) between March 7-March 21, so that they can "make additional offers to talented students toward the end of the admissions cycle". If you haven't heard from them, don't lose your hope! And for those accepted, we should notify the school of our plans between those days!

We have thoroughly reviewed your application, the supporting papers submitted on your behalf, and the recommendation made by the department to which you have applied. I regret to inform you that on the basis of this joint consideration, we are unable to approve your admission to graduate study. Graduate education is characterized by extremely small classes and close mentoring by faculty. As a result, programs have only a limited number of available positions. Each year we receive many more applications than can be accommodated; consequently, we are unable to admit many highly qualified students.

Official acceptance letter, although notified by PI a few weeks ago. (Will decline) For anyone wondering, Virtual Site Visit on March 29

Ignore waitlist. Applied for hep-th. Does anyone hear anything? My application still doesn't say under review yet. Also for Umass Amherst. Still under review (same research area). Anyone hear anything? Thanks

Ignore WL. Was my application and profile so bad that they didn't even bother to send me a rejection mail? No mail or update on portal yet, was told by PI last week that 1st round offers have been sent, you may've a chance if someone rejects but can only know that in April.
