Rejected even though the interview felt promising, not a good year to apply

Fully expected after decisions were released last week. Congrats to those who got in!

Just got this from Harvard: "Thank you for your interest in the Psychology PhD program at Harvard. It's important to note that the funding for students does not come from the faculty member, it comes from the graduate school (GSAS). We receive the number of slots from the GSAS and there is an internal faculty ranking system in the Psych dept to determine which faculty will be able to use those slots. In the absence of the April 15th resolution this year, we expect to implement a waitlist, so some faculty may be able to offer admission after initial decisions are sent out and even past April 15. Faculty are currently reviewing applications and conducting interviews. Interviews (whether via phone, Zoom, or in-person) are always part of the admissions process for our eventual admits, but not all applicants will receive an interview. We expect interviews to take place through next week. Admissions decisions will be sent out in early March."

TTPB: Thanks a lot for your answer! Can I ask one more question? Would you be accepting the offer? I was just wondering if there are some applicants that are rejecting the offer from BBS to accept offers from other top programs..

TTPB: They said "This year we are using a program of rolling admissions. Therefore, we hope you will let us know your decision as soon as you are certain of your plans, as this will enable us to extend the next round of acceptances to other applicants, and so help your fellow students." The final deadline to decide is April 15th. Hope this helps!

TTPB: did they ask you whether or not you'll be accepting the offer right away?

Hi all - did anyone receive any news? In the past years admissions would roll from the 10 to about the 16 of February - did anyone receive any admission?

Had an informal conversation with POIs in mid-Jan. Notified by DGS, then POIs of department-level acceptance in late Jan.

Email to check the portal. No interview, but light email communication with a POI in the Fall.
