Electrical engineering background, I thought I was a really strong applicant but I guess I wasn't what they're looking for.

First rejection, but at least I heard back early. I went to Berkeley for undergrad and Caltech for MS, but it's good to know I don't have the results desired to be a super-competitive PhD applicant. I do regret not applying to multiple MIT PhD programs, like some other people I know had. Have 2 second-author papers (1 conference, 1 journal), submitted a second-author paper to 1 conference and 1 journal, and had a 1st author paper underway that was severely delayed due to many recent deaths in my research partner's family, along with my partner catching COVID themselves.

Got a generic letter of rejection. I wonder how many internationals they interviewed.

I'm absolutely devastated.

3 year undergraduate dry lab experence. 2 pubs, 1st author pubs under review. General rejection letter, waste of time.

Building Technology PhD program's deadline was Jan. 8th. Now, the status was changed to "Your application has been reviewed by staff and has been sent to the admissions committee for consideration."
