Admitted for Master of Engineering degree

Was hoping for this one. GRE 332, yet got rejected which means GRE really doesn't matter much.

I wrote a mail some days back, asking them to update me on my status. I got rejection in reply. Frankly, I thought Cornell MSE was within reach for me; maybe they're admitting potential future Nobel Laureates. I won't say I am devastated, but by waiting for an outcome (a reject, which I am sure they could have conveyed earlier, because the letter was generic) from this place, given its higher preference on my priority order, I sat on other admits. People waitlisted there could have waited less and benefited. Anyway, even I am helpless.

TTPB: There are definitely some good profs in all good schools but that doesn't mean that department administration is doing their job properly and it matters as PhD is a long journey and you need funding. The profs are assigned to you early so you don't get enough chance for lab rotation etc. From my perspectives, Cornell BME is way Better, organised than MSE program. The BME program is also research focused, doesn't have burden of coursework where you need to go through a written qualifying exam at MSE department covering all of undergrads. It's hilarious.

TTPB, can you please elaborate more? Isn't the research carried out by profs good enough for me to overlook shortfalls in administration? I am really worried.

Overall, the department sucks, don't apply there unless you get a commitment from a supervisor. Even general administration workers in that Department don't response. The other departments are fantastic by the way.

My research interest was biomechanics and biomaterials, the professor I wanted to work with was from Materials Science Department, therefore applied at Materials Science. That's it, the nightmare begins.... No contact from so called Graduate Field Administrator or professor or graduate coordinator, none of them respond to even emails or general inquiry. Horrible department, horrible culture, I'm sure they are depressed! May be I got rejected but they can at least tell me what's going on! This is insane, fortunately got offer from Syracuse and New York University, so I don't care anymore. It's just frustrating and that Department culture suckd.

TPB: Did you reject offer from Cornell or Cornell Dyson?
