Computer Science And Engineering, Harvard University Second time rejected by this program. 3.94 GPA, Math and CS double major from a medium ranked state school. 2 years of undergrad research experience with 1 published NLP paper (first author), 3 years of working experience as a data scientist and SWE. Guess I'm just not Harvard material :(

Agriculture & Applied Economics, University Of Wisconsin-Madison Received email yesterday (Feb 15). Stats: Undergrad senior, 4 publications (2 first author), 3 RA's. Only one assistantship was conducted in economics. Publications are also not in an economic journal, although their material are economics related.

English, University Of Wisconsin-Madison Emailed the grad coordinator because there was a bunch of acceptances and rejections coming out for about a week. Received the response after 3 days. Careless. Not sure if they even read the application material properly.

Mechanical Engineering, CU Boulder Got TA ship and Fellowship. Has Masters in material Science with 3.9 GPA and very good research experience. Has 10 publications mostly book chapters and conference proceedings.

Nuclear Science And Engineering, Massachusetts Institute Of Technology Applied to the materials field 2 years ago but failed. I am surprised to succeed this time without changing much of my application material, still with only a first-authored paper. So don't give up if you have only been rejected once!
