Machine Learning, Carnegie Mellon University MS CS in the US, with 1 first author publication in a top theory conference. Undergrad from a tier 1 engineering institute in India. Low undergraduate GPA (7.6/10), but that was in 5 years ago. Masters GPA 3.95. I had only heard that CMU metrics were weird, and now I have seen them. I had spoken with a professor who would have admitted me had I passed the first round. If this is their way of selecting candidates, is CMU even a dream school? I am sure MIT, Stanford have a more clear criteria of selecting candidates. CMU isn't so great in TCS anyway!

Robotics, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) - Robotics Institute BS in ME from top engineering school in South Korea, 1 AAAI accepted paper, 1 IEEE Transactions on ITS published, 2.5 years of work experience in field robotics (reinforcement learning and computer vision), 1 strong LoR, 2 good LoR (one of which has a PhD from CMU RI, the other has personal connections to one of the professors i wrote in my SoP)

Computational Data Science, Carnegie Mellon University CMU Statistics + Machine Learning undergraduate, 3.9 GPA, 2 years of work experience in consulting on data analysis. Still rejected. A bit disappointed. Guess did not do well enough on the CS classes (had couple Bs on the ML classes) or never worked in a prestige tech company. Best of luck everyone.

Machine Learning, Carnegie Mellon University waitlisted then accepted. Bachelor in social science. I think they are giving out accepts once there is any decline from those accepted applicants. Anybody got any idea what the prospect is like if I want to pursue a PhD later? (A decent university in us/Canada/uk is ok... I do not care too much about staying at CMU for a PhD)

Machine Learning, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) - Robotics Institute Undergrad from a very little-known university in Southeast Asia, internships at several well-known universities in Asia, 4 papers (1 at AAAI), 2 strong LoR. Rejected via email, it's expected and it's my third year receiving rejections from CMU. I guess I should move on with other direction.

Machine Learning, Carnegie Mellon University Received rejection from Masters in ML program today. Does this mean I am rejected from other programs, I applied for in CMU? Reason being, this program was at the bottom of my selection list in the portal, so the above programs rejected me or every program gets my application?
