Computer Science, University Of California, San Diego Its a waitlist since someone I know got an admit today (South Indian college). A request to people admitted to UCSD who have received better admits to reject the offer so waitlisted people like me can get offer.

Computer Science, University Of California, San Diego CS undergrad, top-tier IIT, 9.66 CPI, 2 yrs work experience, 2-3 research projects, some extra-curriculars, no research papers. Got an email to check the portal, was my safe school but I think the notion of safe and ambitious is all flawed, no one knows what the admission committee looks into, got an admit from UIUC (lucky) and rejected from UCSD. Can this process "be" more non-deterministic?

Computer Science, University Of California, San Diego IR2 from mid tier IIT. 2 research internships (universities), one of them international. 1 conference paper (A) and 2 journals under submission. Best bachelors Thesis, ACM ICPC Regionals, SIH win. 1.5y work exp ~FAANG. They send out a 1000+ admits, and not together so don't worry. Concerned about the funding and research because of the huge class size, probably would prefer UW Madison for better systems research match (OS) and funding. But UCSD weather is awesome!

Computer Science, UCSD Area of Specialization: AI/ML. 1 year of research. 1 workshop paper. Relevant research-related internship. Strong LoR (I think). Didn't take the GRE. Low lower-div GPA but good upper-div GPA = 3.5 ish GPA overall. CS major with multiple minors.

Political Science, University Of California, Berkeley CP. Best fit for my interests and my top choice program. Was really convinced I wouldn't make it after my UCSD rejection (P.S. Suck it UCSD. I got accepted at the best UC)

Master Of Science In Business Analytics, UC San Diego (UCSD) Admitted for full-time MSBA for Summer 2022. Did not submit GRE/GMAT as it was optional due to the Pandemic. Have about 3 years of related work experience as a consultant.

Computer Science, University Of Southern California I contacted one of my seniors who went to USC in Spring 19 to know his view points. Posting it here so that many can benefit: 1) Major drawback is the internship opportunities. According to him, many students had really hard time finding internships. Now people say that you get 3 semesters to prepare for internships. So, then what about jobs? You waste 3 semesters in preparing and finding internships. Then there's only 1 semester to search for jobs and conversion of internships to jobs is really less. 2) Acc to him, wasting 6 months in India and then wasting 3-4 months in summer break is of no use. Yes, you can part time jobs in the break but is part time jobs > Your precious time in life and finding internships? 3) Many good professors at most universities including USC won't be available for Spring term as they are busy with research work. So for core courses, he had to take classes of some professors which weren't that great. 4) He graduated in December last year and is working at some Cali based startup that pays around 80-85k. Acc to him, his co-workers are from UT Dallas, UCSD, UIC, Penn state, NEU and NCSU. All these people are having the same pay. 5) His last view point was that career fairs at USC were total shit. They have some lottery based system to pick colors and you can only attend companies that fall under those colors. So, he advised me to go ahead with the other admit and not to obsess over USC.

Computer Science, New York University TTPB: Congrats man. UCSD job and industry wise. There are many reports out there to show UCSD is only a ranking or two below CMU for job prospects. Mind sharing your stats? For all of us that got rejected by UCSD
