Received email saying I would be recommended to the Dean of the Graduate Division for admission. Should receive formal offer in about 2 weeks. Partially funded

Hep-Ex; no pubs, 1.5 years of relevant research + an REU in accelerator in physics. Sent a 990 GRE to UCB.

OMG! I was just feeling very sad about the rejection from Stanford and then received the email to check the portal! Hep-th. No pubs.

Dear Mr. Bastard, It is with regret that we write to inform you that you have not been accepted for graduate study at the University of California, Berkeley. We want you to know that despite surviving two rounds of rejections, we only kept you waiting because we wanted to make you suffer. Clearly, we are unable to make an offer to everyone at the same time because we don't give a f*** about you guys. We appreciate the interest you have shown in UC Berkeley but we only care about the $140 you paid to apply. Sincerely, f*** off.

Was optimistic after I had avoided all the previous rejections. Sadly I was wrong.
