Safe admit

received an unofficial letter from the prof and the phd coordinator (They say official letter will come soon). with Teaching assistantship. 2nd admit now

Last week (Jan 11th), one of my POI professors informed me that I should receive my official letter with a fellowship in a month, and today I've got the official offer from USC!

4 year fellowship. NLP/ML. Two interviews (POI) before. Both professors have worked on projects with me (directly and indirectly) and notified me about the fellowship. Interviews mainly about past research and future interests.

It's about time. Schools that wait forever to give out results are the worst. By the time they accepted people, they definitely knew they weren't going to accept some time. The courteous thing to have done would have been to let them know then. But they didn't send out a single rejection (or at least it seems so) through April 15.

Is anyone else still waiting for a PhD decision from USC? I had an interview in December but have heard nothing since.

To the people who received an email/acceptance + if you are international — did you also receive a request to upload financial docs and/or passport? If so, what was the gap between receiving that email and then receiving the acceptance? Haven't heard from a single school yet (but just received request for info from USC), so going slightly crazy! Hoping to get the decision soon.

I applied for fall admission but was accepted for the spring. The waiting period was very frustrating. I submitted my application on 1/31. I applied to 9 other schools and was required to accept or decline all of my other offers of admission by 4/15. It wasn't until a month later that I heard from USC. There was no communication from the school during that period regarding when I could expect a decision, so I could not have even considered this offer. I was admitted to other highly ranked programs, including Berkeley and Cornell, so I would not have accepted anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am the person who broke up with his girlfriend. I have known the POI for a while and had an interview early January. Be patient they will announce the results by the end this week as far as I know. My area of expertise is in Security with BEng, MSc in EE and CS. Had good number of Journal and conference publications and so so grades in the international grading system. Best of Luck!

First admission!

Worst and most unprofessional admissions process ever. Now they tell me that they will give me admission to another program and that too only after I send my financial docs, after the longest delay. Request future students to not waste time applying to this school!

To the posters who asked about admit decision, I asked the staff, and they replied that "Most admit decisions will be made by the end of May. Unfortunately, it is not possible to say when a specific application will be reviewed." So I think it's still not the end of the world.
