Computer Science, Columbia University TTPB: From what I've read in various forums, less than 10% of people get off the waitlist. Sometimes, they don't take anyone off at all. It's a matter of pride for the schools to announce that they didn't have to go to the waitlist. And they send out acceptances to people they think are most likely to accept. So I would advise: don't get your hopes up. If you have other options, consider them. I have other acceptances and will be making a decision before the end of this week.

Computer Science, Columbia University To the person putting people down a few posts back, please don't misinform. The acceptances for CSMS have so far been mostly international, and I hope everyone understands the reason international students need their decisions first (visa processing times). There should still be many seats left, and many American candidates have not heard back, myself and many others around me included. Good luck and be patient!
