Creative Writing (Fiction, University of Miami Rejected from 11 top, fully-funded schools and done for my first season. It's a terribly hard industry, and I'll tell you what I tell my students: rejection has happened (and will continue to happen) to (almost) anybody who was ever been anybody. Hell, Harper Lee received her biggest rejection just before she died from a lot of her own fans, and nearly every critic who had just prior sung her praises. If there are any slightly younger writers wrapping up their B.A. degree with nowhere to go next year, this industry might take you time, but you can do it. I have spent 4 years as a public school teacher at a Title 1 school placed by Teach for America, and I'm a graduate of UC Berkeley and former Daily Californian journalist. Sometimes it still doesn't add up and as a writer you just have to try another way. And I'm advising myself, here, too. (Sorry for how long this got.)
