Graduate School Admission Results

Notified by department that following my interview with supervisor they have advised the admissions office to make me an offer - formal offer to follow in next few days. Just applied for doctoral scholarships.

TA and nomination for prestigious fellowship!

2 years of research experience, 3 strong letters of recommendation, no publications, undergrad results not fantastic either. I think it is most important to speak with faculty face to face before admissions so that they know you better as a person.

Over half a dozen wait lists. No acceptances. I give up, people. Elvis has left the building.

Checked website, got an email later in the day to check. No funding, will probably not go, but thrilled to have gotten in!

Initially, the application for the program consisted of intense individual work. I sent in close to 100 pieces of writing. About 30 of us were picked and invited to Applicant's Weekend. We had to go to Applicant's Weekend for a "try-out"/"workshop" before we were told that we were accepted. Roughly twenty of us are accepted into the program for this cycle. This is typical every year. It is very selective.

I think my background in biochemistry as opposed to engineering and my low Quant were the killers. 3 pubs, 1 REU, one international research internship.

Does anyone know if funding is given? To those on the waitlisted, I am 99% sure I will be declining my offer.
