Graduate School Admission Results

Did anyone hear anything from the admission office? Georgetown has been so quiet compares to other schools.

Graduate GPA 4.0/4.0

I got an invite to attend the Students Open Day but I totally forgot and I missed it. They wrote me a mail about me missing it but I haven't replied them. I didn't reach out to any POI prior during the application process and I haven't till now. Won't this cost me the admission? What can I do? Do I still stand a chance? SD.

Received an e-mail from the concentration head that I was invited to prospective students day on February 19th - out of 74 applicants to the sociolinguistics concentration!

Accepted with $13.5k scholarship. Very excited!

TTPB (Georgetown): To clarify, they meant 2 students per concentration, right? I can't imagine Georgetown only accepting two students across theoretical, socio, computational, AND applied. (But I mean, it is COVID-19-time... Ohio State and Cornell cut their incoming class size; UPenn and UChicago didn't even take applications. Dang this is an unfortunate admissions cycle to be graduating.)

After two weeks of an interview with POI, the head of the concentration emailed me and told me that they had 97 applications, and that I was among the 10% top that they interviewed, but that I didn't make it into the next 7% that they invited to Prospective Student Day (out of whom, they will only choose 2 for admission and 5-year support). Good luck and congratulations to those 2!

(Theoretical Concentration) Does anyone know approximately what percentage of students they accept after the open house? Like, is it a long shot, 50/50, decent chance, etc.? Thanks!

Got accepted about a week ago, though it is only my safety choice. Georgetown used the adjusted GPA done by WES, which is a huge benefit to me since the GPA i got from my home institution in Hong Kong is really bad. Hong Kong University is notorious for giving students bad grades and dragging down their GPAs thereby. WES has moderated my GPA up by a huge degree (2nd class standard to 1st class!!!). Plus I got good GRE scores and a few internship experiences, which got me the offer earlier than expected. STILL, waiting for other better schools to respond

Invited to Prospective Student Day by concentration director. Interviewed with two POIs back in December.

I applied without a Masters degree. In the rejection email from the concentration head, she stated that I was informally accepted by the faculty of the concentration to the MS in Applied Linguistics instead and would just need to have my application switched from one pool to the other.

TTPB: I applied for the same programme. I got the email about the webinar and couldn't sign up either. I see some people got interviews ( from all my schools) but nothing here. Bit deflated.
