Graduate School Admission Results

Email from POI that they were very disappointed that I wasn't on the final list. Expected because of that department (actually kinda relieved). But I'm super happy that my POI said they would still want to work with me in any capacity (which is the whole reason I applied there). I feel my application fee is worthwhile.

2 internships at LIGO and ISRO. 2 publication as cp, two papers under review. 2 yr research experience. Generic rejection mail. Status updated through portal

2 years of research experience in observational radio astronomy, one conference poster, one conference talk, completed Honours thesis, first-author paper in progress at the time of application (since submitted). Did not do the GRE. Applying from a Canadian school. Congrats to those who heard a favourable response regarding their application!

Grade: 1.6 (german gpa scale); doing MSc in astrophysics; Total 4 yrs of research experience, including 2 yrs in astronomical instrumentation. Two summer schools in instrumentation. No pubs or conference presentations. Worked on various topics and currently doing thesis on galaxies, but wanted to switch fields, so applied for exoplanets. Didn't cold-emailed profs before. Really thought it would have worked, but I guess my lack of depth in astrophysics research and no pubs weakened my application. But I'm really happy for everyone who got in!! All the best guys! 6 internships at NASA, gave talk in department. Was hopeful but this is expected because of my GPA and educational background.

(ignore the status) Has anyone heard from Harvard? Last year the notification date was 2/1.

Notified by POI upon inquiry. Received an informal interview from 2 POIs in early January. Subfield: Japanese cinema and literature. Alas. I hope I'll have somewhere to go.
