Disappointed. I'm waiting for the Transportation results as well.

I received a generic email this afternoon. I can't say it's unexpected and I'm not really disappointed as I have other options.

Did anybody not get the update e-mail?

AMO experiment. I mentioned the professor in my application but I am not sure whether he is representing the committee or not. two LORs from the professors that have connection with MIT. One publication in arxiv and under review. The email goes like the following: we have reviewed your application for admission to the MIT Physics graduate study program, and are very impressed with your accomplishments. The admission process includes the possibility of awarding a departmental fellowship for the first year of graduate studies, or a research assistantship. Both would provide a full stipend and tuition. Before making the final decision for admission, I would like to talk to you about MIT, research opportunities at MIT, and your background and interest. I would like to schedule this interview preferably on the weekend, or on Monday, and use Skype for it. Let's plan for about 30 minutes.

I love their program and their city, but twice now, the feeling has not been mutual.

Got a phone call followed by an email with an invitation to the open house. Admitted into CDD. Funding information is in the mail.

Valedictorian of a top 50 university. International applicant, native English speaker. One year work experience with a large Silicon Valley firm. Three years experience in commercial R&D. Very strong LOR by a faculty Dean. No publications. No patents... yet. Now I will have more time to work on my inventions. :-P
