Graduate School Admission Results

WAAAHOOOO. It all paid off.

According to the secretary for the graduate program, they have not finished the selection process. Not even for the pure math subsection of the applicants. Perhaps they have an unofficial list or something, but they are still reviewing applications for pure and applied admission.

From my experience, graduate secretaries basically lie as they're usually not authorized to release any information. The graduate coordinators can usually give you more honest answers. I was told that the short list has been made and it's 'highly unlikely' that they will go beyond this list.

Asked progress of admissions process. Received, "Thank you for checking in on the status of your application and continued interest in our program. I hope you'll understand that I will not be able to answer questions about the full timing and status of the admissions process until it is complete, which is normally in mid-April. We will notify all applicants of their admissions results by then." Has anyone been notified yet?

told to contact faculty of interest myself about research assistantships

Same as MIT mechanical engineering poster below. I applied for PhD but received an e-mail with acceptance to Masters program. Does anyone know why they did this?

the letter says ~50 candidates are on the wait list and there\'s been no openings for the wait list in the last several years. maybe i should give up on this.....
