Graduate School Admission Results

Finally, although expected. Majoring in Aerospace, also pre-med at top 15/20 school. 2 strong LOR, 1 medium. About 2 years of research in BioE, no publications. I am a bit surprised with the responses I have gotten. Got into Penn, Columbia, Vanderbilt, BU, but rejected from Wisconsin and Northwestern. Not sure whether my applications varied wildly in quality or whether I just didn't have what some schools were looking for.

International applicant. Undergrad in pet. eng. MS from Tulsa Uni pet eng. Another MS in geology. 5 years experience as a engineer.

2 years of experience in O&G industry, 1 year as a business analyst, 1 year as a project manager in a consultant, 6 month as a researcher in energy infrastructure, policy & economics. My fourth effort applying to Stanford. Going to Pennsylvania State U this fall. Good luck everyone!

TTPB: who said they were nobody? It's just that when good professors say you were a crappy student, they ruin your application.

5 year work experience in telecomunications. Fulbright grantee. Average GRE

(this is the person accepted to HCP and worked as a SWE after graduation) Over 1 year at company when I applied, will be over 2 years when program starts. 2 references from undergrad, 1 reference from current manager.

TTPB about nobodys - what made you think your recommenders are nobodies in Stanford's eyes?

Has anyone received financial aid decisions for Masters degree from Stanford's Structural Engineering department?

Undergraduate. 6 publications with 3 first/corresponding-author papers in Physical Review Journals. Recommended by "nobody"s in their eyes. And thus, rejected.

POI said that the admission process has been delayed due to the virus. Undergrad (Geology) and MS (Geophysics) GPA are 3.8. Talk with POI at AGU meeting but was told that decisions would be made by the admission committee. I have participated in research since I was sophomore. Two AGU presentations, one publication and one submitted paper.

TTPB: +1! Anyone who got in -- would love to know what it took. Research-heavy background? Other? This was the only program I applied to this cycle, and would consider reapplying next year so would love to get a better idea of what they're looking for

Rejected last night 6:43 PST 2 years work experience as software engineer at a FAANG company, undergrad in Computer Science (Psychology minor) @ Top 10 school, 2 years research experience (in Psychology / HCI) + related research thesis in undergrad. No published first-author papers. Co-authored papers in the works, but not yet published. Bummed :( but life goes on! Congrats to all that got in!

So I got rejected despite having a fellowship. I believe my recommenders did not really endorse my application :( Now I regret choosing them.
