Graduate School Admission Results

I got a reply back from a graduate program director as follows: "To clarify, the UM English department has not sent out any PhD admissions notifications. Files are still being reviewed, with a final meeting scheduled at the end of the month. I expect to inform applicants of their status by the first week of March."

Received an email to attend Virtual Visit Weekend (Feb 18-19).

TTPB: I am the one who posted on gradcafe earlier about the second-round interview. I really like Michigan's program, but I don't think I'll get the offer. The competition is crazy this year. To my knowledge, there are many people (in quant) that have made to the second-round, and Michigan will only take 1 person (cb+quant).

Anyone receiving decisions? I think the visit week is over, so we may expect decisions soon.

TTPB: Believe me when I say I didn't expect to hear back from UMich this soon either. Here are some additional details for you: I received the email from the director of the Joint PhD program in addition to the Associate Director of Grad Studies and a few other people CC'ed to the official letter and email. I also received details about my funding package (pretty detailed breakdown that I can PM you if you want), and then a note about a virtual visit day that would occur during the week of March 15th. Hope this helps.

Can you share more about your acceptance - I did not think people would hear back until the end of the month. Has anyone else been accepted and/or rejected? Thanks!

TTPB: For the person who got in the second round interview, are you going to accept the offer if you receive the offer?

TPB: Hey, I think it depends on the Prof running it. Mine was around 35 minutes (although 30 were budgeted originally), as I had many questions to ask. The interviewers were very friendly and professional. No technical question.

Anyone heard anything? Feeling the anxiety....

Official letter from BME department recommending me for admission. Admission will be finalized in a couple days after TGS reviews it.

TPB: How is your interview going? How long does it last? Is it a normal form without technical questions? I will have mine next week. TKS in advance!

Virtual visit weekend was held on 18-19 Feb (check website). Those who did not get invited should expect rejection (including me lol)

Got an email this afternoon. Want to work with the department to develop a defense of Hegel, in particular against pernicious ad hominem Schopenhauerian attacks

Linguistic focus. Still hoping and praying I may still be admitted. It's looking like this is the only opportunity I have left but I'm determined to be positive.
