Graduate School Admission Results

Received a generic rejection email from the BME Grad Officer. Same old reasons- Limited seats, High Pool of applicants etc. Kinda expected this.

Really disappointed... top choice and had a really good interview.

[Not Waitlist] TTPB: UMich has a strange policy regarding the funding of Ph.D. Students. As far as I know, prospective advisors have to arrange the funding for the entire 4 years (~200k) when accepting students. In most schools, only the funding for the first year is guaranteed, and advisors arrange fundings yearly (~50k). Thus, funding is probably problematic for most of the groups, and they are waiting for some admitted students to decline the offer to send new offers.

To the three posts below me regarding Michigan Ann Arbor, same here. I applied to power and energy track, and from the results on this site, not many have been selected on that track. Someone even mentioned here that maybe that group doesn't have funding

To the WTF dude: I am pretty sure they are waiting for the admitted students to report their decision. Therefore, the professors can still find students in the wait listed pool if the student they gave an offer decline it.

TTPB: Welcome to the gang. I have given up on Michigan tbh. I was in for EM track. What about you?

Wtf is going on? Have had 0 communication from the dept or the profs. Does anyone have any clue what's taking them so long to roll out the decision? It's already April 1!!!

[Ignore the wait-list]: Haven't heard back from here yet. Is it safe to assume rejection, considering significant number of people have already been offered.

GPA 4/4 - GRE: 170/165/5.5 - Interview with my POI in late Feb. - get an unofficial admission in mid march - No official letter yet

Anyone who applied to PhD and put MS for consideration heard back for MS ?? If any info is available about this??

Does anyone have any updated from UMich Ann Arbor ??

TTPB : I also heard some ppl finished interviews and got an unofficial mail from UMich. Just wait until they will decline or make a decision for other grad school.
