Just got the email from my POI, official letter on the way

asked for a skype interview by POI

Faculty contact in Theory group. No interview.

First Reject !!! :(

Fit is not very strong so it’s is expected. 1a/3r/5p

E-mail to check website. There, I was greeted by a brief rejection letter with the usual standard phrases. Disappointed.

got an email saying to go check the portal for admission decision. no funding or teaching assistantship.

To a person who received the waitlist offer below, I am also waiting for the results. I wonder if you can share your background or experience. Thanks.

I was told decisions will not be made for five weeks.

The person who has been waitlisted (not the one who already got into his top choice of program), what is your profile? I have also been waitlisted. I have GPA (8.32/10) with 2 research papers in journals. Multiple projects and 1.5 years work-ex.

Contacted by systems professor I mentioned, informal Skype interview, informal acceptance!

The PI I was interested in emailed me some questions like "Where do you see yourself in 10 years, career-wise?", "What are the main skills you are seeking to gain in graduate school?", and "What is your background in statistics and programming?". She also asked me to send her my transcript and a writing sample from a science course. Then, we chatted over Skype during which I asked her about her current projects and research, mentoring style, and lab. She invited me up to Pullman where I attended another program's recruitment weekend since CSS doesn't have their own. A few days afterwards, she decided to reject me (the program doesn't do rotations) because she and everyone else (I guess the two other profs I talked to there and her lab?) felt that I wouldn't be a good fit for her research. My grad portal still says my application is under review.

No interview. Systems track. Expected.
