Received the IR email yesterday, and now the rejection letter

Received the implicit rejection last evening. Congrats to all the admits!

Simple rejection message. I'm a triple major in econ, math and stats with a 4.0 and 3 funded undergraduate research projects at a large mid tier public school.

said they were very conservative on acceptances this year because they expect more people to accept their offers and will probably only update waitlist status very late - ie. closer to april 15 deadline

Grad GPA (PhD level classes) 3.76/4.0

I thought my research interests were a good fit and my background is pretty strong overall, but not too surprised. If I had looked at last year's rejections on this forum earlier I may not have even wasted the application fee.

perfect GRE/4.0 ug/4.0 grad. 1 second author, 1 primary author. at least I'll go to Columbia.

Have a letter writer from Stanford so I admit I had some small hope

Got the implicit rejection email, so I knew this was coming. "Your application for admission to study at Stanford has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee in the Economics Department. I regret to report that we cannot admit you to our graduate program. As you know, the Department gets many more applications from qualified candidates than we can accept given our financial resources and space restrictions. Consequently, each year many strong candidates must be turned down. This year we received close to 900 applications for approximately 23 spaces. Regretfully, we cannot provide individual feedback on applications which were not accepted into our program. I can only assure you that all files were read by multiple members of the admissions committee and decisions were made with care." First domino to fall during applications! Excited to hear back from other schools :D

I got the mass email last night and indeed the rejection letter was posted to my application portal today.

I was so depressed! I got out of the bathtub and put on a black low-cut dress with lace all over it sandly. I put on black high heels with pink metal stuff on the ends and six pairs of skull earrings. I couldn't believe it.

acceptance by email. did not receive IR yesterday. my email reads "Congratulations on being admitted to the Ph.D. program in Economics at Stanford University! I am pleased to send you the attached offer of admission letter. "

Received email with acceptance letter attached. This was my first email from Stanford - didn't receive the email people were talking about yesterday.
