To the CMU MS CS guys who received decision: was it just the mail stating decision or link to portal? It still shows offline so wondering.

2nd admission of the season; have better offer to go

Admitted following an interview with a professor in my area of interest. No pubs and ugrad research was in a slightly different area, but also did ugrad work with a well-known prof. who got his degree from CMU. Very excited, best of luck to everyone!

Email from POI & CSD. No interview.

5 years of work-ex in security. 1.5 years of research experience. 1 US patent filed. CS undergrad.

Standard boiler plate reject. Does this mean a reject for LTI and CS as well?

Applied for the PhD, but was accepted to the master's (without funding, but with assurance that "many Masters’ students find partial or full support directly from research projects beginning in their first or second semester"). Supposedly, continuing to the PhD is possible contingent on good master's performance and aligned stars. Already have a master's with a 4.0 and two NAACL papers (first author) in review. Two strong, high-quality LoRs and one that's presumably a "did well in class." Will very likely not attend.

To the poster below: yes, it seems that in all statistics for CMU (masters/PhD) the GRE is usually very high, especially in Quant. Although, there are a few outliers with lower values that probably have compensated in other ways (publications, experience, etc.).
