Graduate School Admission Results

Very strange experience with UMD. I waited for any kind of notification and was rejected the very last minute, basically a day before I had to make a decision between the programs I had been accepted in. Perhaps I was on some kind of waitlist? Or, maybe they just forgot to send me a rejection...

Applied 2 months ago, just found out been waitlisted.

I have this feeling that even if I was accepted, I would'nt be offered a funding package after waiting for this long time.

NO Email. I just found it out when I logged back to the account. After this long time of waiting and got rejected, I am really sad ...

At least there was no application fee

Received word from department chair that they have finalized their 2020 cohort and will not be making any further offers off of the waitlist.

TTPB: Can you share your profile. And do you have more info regarding this. I also applied to the same program.

I had applied for MSCS, but got a rejection email from Tom Hurst and asking if I would like to be considered for MPS in ML and so forwarded my application for consideration. Got the admit on Saturday.

Got MPS Machine Learning offer, had applied to MS CS. Can anyone tell about this course? Any chat group for UMD admits?

got an email notif... LOL, its evident now...USA is in severe economic crisis, they will not be able to afford a PhD student's fellowship. New admits will only be Master's...who will save USA by paying bags of money, helping them to come out from the crisis... :)

Did not prepare and perform as well as I should be during the recruitment event in February, probably because in those days I was busy talking with every interested PI from each school I applied, making me tired of introducing my research experience one more time. At the end of the interview, my interested PI encouraged me to contact other potential PIs in the department, I thought it was a dangerous sign. They did not send me an email notification about the admission decision. I saw my decision through the application portal today, which actually was released on last Friday.

I was first interviewed via phone some time in January. Graduate Coordinator later informed me I didn't make it to the second interview phase. On 04/25/2020, I was mailed to check my application portal for decision. First GRE attempt was 307 (Q: 154; V:153, AWA:4.0). I sent both scores. I also have an MPH degree from the UK. Anyways, I could care less since I eventually got into my dream school which way better.

Accepted off the waitlist today!
