Computer Science, University Of Colorado, Boulder After careful review of your application to the Computer Science Master's degree program, the CSEN Admissions Committee is not able to offer you admissions to the Research Based Master's degree program. This year, the competition for admissions to the research based MS degree option was very high and a very limited number of students were selected for admission to this degree option. Admissions to the research based option is based on applicant's overall application, research experience and most importantly the research match with faculty advisors looking for specific background and skills and the research match. However, we are very impressed with your application/credentials and are interested in reviewing your application for the CSEN-MSCPS, course based degree option, therefore your application is now being moved from CSEN-MS to CSEN-MSCPS review team. You will see this change in your application portal. You will receive a decision after the review for CSEN MSCPS degree is complete by end of March. Students may switch from course based option to the research based option only once during their academic tenure here. In order to switch to the research based option, you will need to locate a CSEN faculty who is willing to serve as your research advisor and then submit a petition to the Graduate Committee. These petitions and reviewed and decided on a case by case basis. During the fall semester, there will be several pre-research advising sessions by faculties looking for research students, which will be your opportunity to learn more about research in the department, if you are interested switching options. You will hear from us regarding decisions by the end of March, 2021.

Computer Science, Princeton University I just now received the rejection via Email which stated that, "Thank you for applying to Princeton University's Graduate School for the 2021-22 academic year. While I assure you that the materials you submitted were carefully reviewed by the faculty in the Department of Computer Science, I regret to inform you that the department did not recommend your admission for the coming academic year. The number of admission offers available at Princeton for entering graduate students is extremely limited, and we cannot offer admission to all applicants who are well qualified. Indeed, many departments consistently have applicants who would be admitted without hesitation if additional resources were available. Our decisions take into account not only the applicants' merits but also the suitability of the programs to the candidates' expressed interests. Our goal is to achieve a sound match between the strengths of our programs and the interests of the relatively small number of outstanding students that can be accommodated. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications which we receive, it is not possible for the department or the Graduate School to go back and review applications to justify the denial or offer advice on fortifying a future application. I wish you success in your plans for graduate study and thank you for considering Princeton University."

Computer Science, University Of Chicago accepted to the pre-doctoral MS in Computer Science Fall 2021, with 50% scholarship. Didn't expect the scholarship b/c there's a saying on the website that UChicago will not offer any assistantship to pre-doctoral students. Excited!

Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University MCDS - Reposting since I originally listed it as Computational Data Science and I don't think the bot picked it up. 2 papers in upcoming CV conference, 1 year experience as software engineer, strong LOR's. no financial package (TA/RA/Fellowship) offered up front, potential TA positions after first semester but pay is minimal (12.50/hr). no prior contact with any faculty members. gpa for last 2.5 years was 3.97

No publications.

Computer Science, University Of Montreal / Montreal Institute For Learning Algorithms (MILA) POI sent an email for interview on 15.02.2021. I already gave the interview on 23.02.2021. The POI will take the decision in 2 weeks. Research area is in computer vision. I already have a Masters degree and 1.5 year work experience (in an industry research lab) and 1 first-author paper in a top conference. I was genuinely surprised that the POI emailed because of the insane number of applications that MILA gets.

Data Science, ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute Of Technology CS undergrad at a Chinese university. The rejection letter (PDF on portal) said the following: "Thank you very much for having applied to our University. We regret to inform you that your application to the Data Science MSc programme at ETH Zurich has not been successful. Attendance of this Master's degree programme presupposes basic and subject-specific knowledge and competences (discipline requirements profile). A very good performance in the preceding degree programme is also required. An examination of your dossier by the Admissions Committee of the degree programme indicates that your performance does not sufficiently fulfil the criteria set out in the discipline requirements profile." I think it could be because my background and finished courses don't sufficiently match the requirements of data science (my research experience is in computer systems). Best of luck to others.

Data Science, ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute Of Technology Actuarial science major from a decent (~top 15-20) Canadian university. 3.96/4.00 GPA. Good LoRs and great SoP (I think). Took the GRE, got 169Q, 164V and 5.0W, TOEFL 119. Research experience and work experience in data science but no publications. A lot of other less related experiences (actuarial science internships, teaching assistant in math/programming classes, won case studies). Did not apply for ESOP. I'm so happy to get accepted into my dream program! Good luck to all the others and see you in September!
