Graduate School Admission Results

Nothing on the portal. I reached out and was informed that the class has not been finalized but that I was not chosen. Why even tell me the class isn't finalized? That stings.

first notification from any of my applications and it's... more indecision. i don't know how to feel! proud? frustrated? both?!

Got a call. No word on funding yet so not sure if I can take it, but really excited!

Received email informing me of waitlist status on 2/13

Very kind form rejection from Nathan Mead. This one was a bummer to get. Congratulations to the folks who got in!

"I'm writing to notify you that you have been waitlisted for admission with a Teaching Assistantship at the University of New Mexico's MFA Program in Creative Writing. The Fiction admission committee was extremely impressed with your application, and you should feel good about this recognition. UNM's MFA Program is very small and, consequently, extremely competitive, and there's still a good chance that you will be admitted with funding." Said they'd let me know one way or the other by April 15.

Poetry

Unfortunately got rejected by both the low-res and full-res programs. Definitely stung, though this was my weakest application by far. I had to submit poetry and CNF as part of my fiction application (as all do), and my poetry is beyond garbage, while my CNF is barely decent. Doesn't hurt as bad as it could, but still sucks.

Received an email last night from Robin Behn. Excited.

For fall 2021 The University of Minnesota cut it's accepted applicants down to 6 students because of money constraints. The date of notification was also an estimate.

Already have a MA in Literature. Overjoyed to even be considered, but I'm still hoping to get it for real.

I just checked the portal around the end of business hours and was notified I was put on the waiting list. Good luck everyone!
