To the person below, this is what I got after contacting the ME Academic Service Office: The main ways for Master’s students to get tuition support are through GSRAs (research assistant) and GSI (teaching assistant) positions. Both of these are typically something that Master’s students apply to engage in for their second term rather than first term, since in most cases in-person interviews will have to be conducted, and students don’t arrive on campus in time to be able to do those interviews for the Fall term. Also, for GSRA positions, many faculty will ask that the student do an independent research project (ME 590) with them during the Fall term, and if that goes well, they may fund them during the second term, but they won’t commit to funding them up front without knowing how the student will perform. On the positive side, if you do research with a professor and they decide after a term or two to support your admission to the Ph.D. program, at that point you will be given a full funding package that pays full tuition+stipend+benefits for 4 years. Unfortunately, education loans available at the University of Michigan are only available for U.S. citizens whether they are need-based or not. As an international student, you need to look for a financial resource back in your home country.

Maybe we should contact them and ask them to release the results if they already have them?

A limited student is a student permitted to take up to 12 units of classes at USC before formally applying for enrollment at USC. You are allowed to take all the classes a normal USC student does, but you do not have to formally enroll until you hit that 12 unit cap. At that point you submit your application like any other student. The advantage of this is that your grades earned as limited student are taken into account when you formally apply. In my case i had a sub par undergraduate GPA, so i'm hoping the graduate courses i took as a limited student helped offset that. I don't know what your odds of getting in are. This was meant as more of a clarification as to why a lot of people aren't hearing anything back from Viterbi.
