- A limited student is a student permitted to take up to 12 units of classes at USC before formally applying for enrollment at USC. You are allowed to take all the classes a normal USC student does, but you do not have to formally enroll until you hit that 12 unit cap. At that point you submit your application like any other student. The advantage of this is that your grades earned as limited student are taken into account when you formally apply. In my case i had a sub par undergraduate GPA, so i'm hoping the graduate courses i took as a limited student helped offset that. I don't know what your odds of getting in are. This was meant as more of a clarification as to why a lot of people aren't hearing anything back from Viterbi.
