"Update Pending" on SPIRE portal. Most likely it is going to be another reject. I had applied to 6 colleges in the US this year. All of them are rejects. Competition is insane for PhD CSE. Highly disappointed. Good Luck to the other applicants though.

Extremely bad experience. Only apply if you have a strong interest in their program. The worst portal I have seen.

Ignore waitlist. TTPB: If only rejects are left, then why do they bother not sending them away. Why send only couple of rejects per day. They should rather give people waiting to hear back a sense of clarity.

Notified on SPIRE. Horrible process from start to end. Future students, don't bother. Plenty of other schools that care about applicants

No pub. first rejection from UoA. Sad for that :(( ill don't apply for UoA anymore.

Received an email saying that all admits had been given. Was already expecting a reject after so many admits had been given but still sad.

Got notified via email that I am not being considered for admission. Few people got recommended for Online MS, I was not even one of them. SOP and LORs were decent but lack of research experience and papers must have been the reason.

Any new updates from OSU post the 1st of April for anyone?

Has anyone on the waitlist heard back?

I had put this on my safe school list. Anyway, I have a great offer from a better school. Honestly, since the process is so stochastic, I don't think these rejects represent my worth or academic calibre. To those accepted elsewhere but dejected, c'mon, stop fishing for validation through more admits. Be happy with what you have!

Supposed to be my safe school. Hurts a little but I have much better offers so it should be fine. Congrats to all those who got in.

FINALLY heard back. It's honestly a relief just to know. On to other opportunities.

Their portal is certainly the worst amongst all the places that I have applied to. They send a mail stating that there is an "update pending" on the portal, and then we have to wait for 1-2 days before getting the results. Just send a mail when you actually have the results on the portal so that we can check it out and move ahead with our lives. Or send the results in the mail itself. Anything is better than their current convoluted process.

To the future aspirants - DO NOT APPLY TO UMASS Amherst, there are lot of other colleges which are happy to admit you.

I applied for MS/Ph.D. program. The application is still under review. I gave them GRE scores. They didn't consider the application for MS. They didn't conduct any interviews. Now they are telling us that they will be offering us online MS. Why would we enroll for online MS from UMass? UMass is so irresponsible. I would never suggest anyone apply to UMass. Try for other safe schools. P.S. I got my offer for MS CS at Columbia University but some of my friends are desperately waiting for decision from UMass. I know how it feels like to login to spire 3-4 three times every day. Total nonsense.

Came as a shocker. Was a safe uni, and there was a history of my college folks getting admits here. Thankfully I got an admit from a better uni, but this was a weird one.

Research experience for 1 semester (graduation project), work experience in a unicorn SF-based company (overseas office) as a SWE for 1.5 years.
