Admitted off waitlist. Email from DGS with offer and funding details.

To all applicants. Unis are having a difficult time taking people from the waitlist because they receive too few responses from the admitted students. The DGS I contacted said almost nobody got back with a solid response when I contacted her in mid-March. To quote from another post -- "I understand that the people holding onto their offers are waiting to hear back but this in turn is holding back the entire admissions process by giving less time for second-round offers and hurting other waitlisted applicants. We are at a stalemate. The only resolution is to drop the schools you KNOW you would not attend. Weigh your odds with your reach schools but try to decline some if you can. This will finally start moving the waitlist and in turn, you WILL hear back from your waitlisted schools. It's either we all cooperate and hear some good news or we don't and nobody gets into any of their waitlisted schools."

Accepted admission. No GRE, 3.57 GPA, BU CS and Business, D1 Basketball, 2 internships and 1 startup

I was wondering if anyone else got this email and if they've heard anything since then: "I am writing to inform you that we have made our initial round of admissions decisions for admission starting Autumn 2023. While your application is very strong, we cannot offer you admission into The Ohio State University Physics Graduate Program at this time. However, we would like to keep you (and a small number of other highly qualified applicants) on our Waiting List. We had many applications for just a few positions this year, and could not offer admission to all highly qualified students during our first round of offers. In mid-April, just before the April 15th deadline, we will be able to better determine if we are able to make additional offers for this year. Please let us know if you would like to remain on our waiting list or if you have any other questions. I wish you the best in your future graduate studies."

This is a message for all applicants. Based on my own personal contact with grad programs and from multiple forums, the vast majority of schools are having a difficult time sending second-round offers because far too many people are holding onto their offers. To give some examples, Ohio has said that only a third of their admitted/waitlisted students have responded while my alma mater's waitlist has not budged since February. I understand that the people holding onto their offers are waiting to hear back but this in turn is holding back the entire admissions process by giving less time for second-round offers and hurting other waitlisted applicants. We are at a stalemate. The only resolution is to drop the schools you KNOW you would not attend. Weigh your odds with your reach schools but try to decline some if you can. This will finally start moving the waitlist and in turn, you WILL hear back from your waitlisted schools. Just declined my offer after acceptance from the waitlist at another school. Let me know if somebody gets an offer!

Just found out I was top of the waitlist. This is my top school!! If anyone has been accepted to TAMU and knows they are not attending or choosing another school, please decline your offer as soon as possible. Thank you!!!!!

Anyone heard feedbacks from the program? How many students were on the waitlist?

Has everybody received the waitlist check-in email on April 7? If so, did it include your ranking (high etc)?

No GRE

I got a call late afternoon on Monday April 10, and a follow up email afterwards.

Learning about the waitlist news back in February, then contacted the program coordinator in March to receive a brief response. Still a week towards the deadline of April 15th and I am really hoping for something like a miracle happens.
