English Graduate School Admission Results

TTPB: Hi all! I was the original post for a waitlist notification on 3/20. I received an email from Dr. Jodi Schorb. I'll likely stay on the waitlist for now, as I'm still waiting to hear back from a few schools! Currently in an MFA program, concentrations in film and media studies.

TTPB: Same email. Waitlisted but in the lower half. May I ask if you are considering UF or planning to decline it?

"We apologize that our admissions timeline is one to two weeks later than usual. We wanted to notify you of your admission status now that all applications have been reviewed by the English department graduate admissions committee. Indeed, we received a notably larger number of applications than in the past two years, for a purposefully smaller entering class of 10 to 12 doctoral students (compared to an entering class of 18 students last year). The committee read your application with interest. You are currently on our waitlist, albeit (for transparency) in the lower half. This means our admissions committee found your application compelling, and while we cannot offer you a place at present, it is possible that a space may open."

Received an email that said my application decision was available on the online application status page. They sent a separate email the next day granting me funding+ tuition waiver. Yay!!

Bummed out, but nice email. Coming from MFA, so no critical pubs. 2r/1a/1w.

ttpb: i got my acceptance yesterday. i am an international student. i will probably be turning it down though.

Has anyone who is not a Canadian applicant heard back? I'm getting impatient but have seen past years people have heard back in April.... seems late

It was nice that they specified the reason I got rejected, which was that I didn't have an English bachelor's degree.
