Sociology Graduate School Admission Results

Emailed from the DGS. Five-year funding. I wish I could be there as I was a strong fit. But have to decline my offer because I already accepted my offer to another program. Sad.

I did not receive an interview. I'm currently in a Master's program so I have heard that makes it more difficult to get into the PhD programs, but this was also a tough year with half the number of spots and a larger pool of great applicants. I applied to 4 other programs and didn't get in. Will try again next year!

Accepted with 5 years of funding. Interviewed first week of March, and had great interactions with all of the faculty. Still waiting to hear about a couple schools I'm waitlisted at, but very excited!

TTPB: I am also waitlisted by U of T, and I have not heard from them. My friend who was admitted told me that they were required to make their decision before March 15, so I guess that the school will make decisions on the waitlist in recent days.

Question, has anyone been rejected from UVA yet? Has everyone gotten an interview or are there still folks who haven't heard anything from them yet?

Interviewed this week & waitlisted. What a difficult cycle this was. Really wish I had applied to more schools! 1a/2w/0r

Interviewed on 3/17 with committe director and one of my FOIs. Was given a nice email today from the director stating that they were impressed with my interview, but due to cohort reductions this cycle, was placed on the waitlist. 0a/6r/4w/1p

TTPB: Okay, good to know, I was worried for a moment! I definitely have a great match with the program, and don't think there's a high likelihood of much movement on waitlists this semester, so getting another waitlist or rejection would have been crushing. Maybe we'll see each other there in the Fall!

TTBP: This should be the initial round of interviews the first week of March... They emailed me in Feb to schedule meetings for the week of Mar 1. But we had to reschedule the meeting due to time conflict.

TTBP: You say you had a panel interview? Was this after the initial round of interviews the first week of March?

TTPB: Had a panel meeting with some faculty members. They said I was admitted but they need about one more week to discuss details. They also said they planned to give out 5 offers this year. So I think we are in the same boat. Do you plan to commit to MSU if admitted? Best of luck!
