Physics Graduate School Admission Results

3.78 GPA, 67th percentile on physics GRE, 161 on verbal, 161 on quantitative, and 4.0 on writing. 3 letters of recommendation all from professors that I do research with at Berkeley because that’s where I go for undergrad, and still didn’t get in.

Waitlisted on the "short" list by an unofficial email. Any idea how long could this short list be? TTPsB: To the accepted candidates of GSU, are you planning to accept your offer?

3 years of research in academic lab + 1 yr in industry

I was rejected, but my email said: "Applications were reviewed according to the NSF Merit Review Criteria of Intellectual Merit and Broader Impacts. By April 29, 2019, NSF will send you an email with instructions for accessing Fastlane to view your application reviews."

A little late since the visit weekend is next week but still super happy!

If we didn't receive an email so far we are out?

Their e-mail said they should be giving out the results on 8th February. Anyone know any updates on that?

I inquired about the status of my application and was told that the applications are still being reviewed, which seems unlikely based on last year's posts; Should I hang on or assume I have been rejected?

Formal letter to come. Indicated interest in hep-th and cosmology. No funding information yet. First acceptance!

Astrophysics PhD. 4 years of research. 1 first-author MNRAS paper. Numerous talks and conferences. Strong recommendation letters. Numerous awards and fellowships during undergraduate years. Had observational astronomy experience. Good grades. Good luck to others.

Applied for CMT, focus on quantum Monte Carlo. My undergrad major was biophysics and my focus may have appeared to them to be more quantum chemistry than CMT.
