Any news from UHM?

To the poster below: I emailed office staff with whom I had multiple correspondence at the start of application. I got an email saying We are pleased to have received your application. The committee will begin contacting students in late February and continue into April.The admissions committee will contact you if they need more information.

If my status shows my application will be made decision on late March, will my application probably be on waitlist? If someone knows this condition, please tell me, thanks.

To the posters who have been waitlisted below, I was told from some reliable sources that MIT over-admit roughly 20% students each year. They will start looking into the waitlist only if all of these 20% of the admitted students (roughly 15 people) decide to go to somewhere else. And actually none of the students on the waitlist survived in the recent two or three years. So it is basically true for MIT Physics that being on the waitlist is a rejection.

Condensed Matter Physics- Experimental, I have been awarded the "Provost's Graduate Excellence Fellowship" which covers 30k stipend/year + 6k insurance +2k travel/research/funding + tuition fees. Established contact with a professor before applying.

To poster below: No, that does not mean you're on the waitlist. Everyone has that, that hasn't been accepted. It meast that they will send out their rejections by end of March. UofW has already sent out most of their acceptances. Though there's a chance for a couple more, for the most part, you can expect a rejection in early to mid March (check past years history). Best to look at other options.
