Totally unexpected!

I can empathize with the person below: a first round rejection stings. 2r/0a/7p

Had the interview on 13th, received the decision letter through email today.

3.7 undergrad GPA, 4.0/4.3 MS GPA from Caltech, 3 coauthored papers in robotics. Mostly come from ME and EE background, but now with interests in biomedical applications. "On behalf of the Biomedical Engineering PhD Team at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, we are pleased to invite you to advance to the next step of our admissions process by interviewing with our program faculty. After considering more than 750 applications, our review committee was impressed by your motivation and achievements, and have voted to place you on our interview short-list. We are excited about the possibility of having you join our program this fall and hope that you will accept our invitation to interview with our faculty. Interviewing with a minimum of three faculty is mandatory for further consideration of your application. Due to public health considerations, our interviews will be held virtually this year. You will be interviewed in separate interviews by each of the following faculty members, who are also copied on this email:"

Formal interview invite! Notified that 3 faculty members (who were also CC'd in the email) would be reaching out for separate interviews over the next 2 weeks. Submitted my GRE scores, 6 yrs of total research experience in bioengineering, and 2 publications (1 second author, 1 first author in progress). One of my top choice programs - so excited!!

Email to check portal. My letters were submitted, so I don't know what I will tell myself to make me feel better about getting a first round rejection, ha.

GPA is grad. Was rejected before all my letter writers could even get my letters in.
